The King nodded and she rose. "Sire, as an offering, I give you the planet of Seriphine."
"So," the King began, "the army has finally earned a victory."
"Yes, sire. I have begun my campaign on Finias and her three moons. All troops are in place and the battles have run smoothly for a day. Victory is predicted in four days."
The monarch sat silently for a moment before replying. "This news pleases Us, but We require your services in another endeavor." He motioned to the Captain. "Hemlock."
Captain Hemlock found her place to Nightshade right. She delivered a crisp bow to the King, both hands raised to the ceiling. "I am yours to command, sire."
"You will assume General Nightshade's command until she returns."
"Yes, sire." He dismissed her with a flick of an index finger. Hemlock bowed and exited taking all the other people in the room with her.
Hemlock was the single most competent thirteen-year-old Nightshade knew and that gave Nightshade more respect for her little sister than she had for her father. Three years ago she couldn't have handled taking over the General's position.
King Belladonna fired his attention on Nightshade. The complete lack of feeling in his ice blue eyes sent spiders tumbling in her stomach.
"What is it you require of me, Father?"
"The Moon Kingdom has recently formed an alliance with the Solar Imperium."
"I thought the Solarians were recluses?"
Belladonna smiled coldly. "They were until Neo Queen Serenity and her fleet of Sailor Soldiers assisted in the healing of the Solar Core. Now, they are undying loyalists to the Moon Kingdom and the Neo Queen. In the hands of the enemy lies not only the Silver Imperium Crystal, but the Crest of Ra, nearly twice the power as she had before. And... She has gained a new Sailor Soldier. The king of the Solar Imperium's brat, Princess Reina, is Sailor Ra!"
"This will greatly affect out campaigns. The opposition is doubled."
"On the contrary, it will give us twice the victory. With the Crystal Blossom Stiletto, the Silver Imperium Crystal and the Crest of Ra, Floribunda will never be defeated!"
Nightshade swallowed her need to tell her father how insane he was beginning to sound.
"Your job is to gain a spy in the Neo Queen's court."
