"Marron?" Carrot came aware all at once, his self-inflicted illusion shattering. Marron had fallen to the ground several paces back. "MARRON!" His younger brother was curled into a ball holding his head with both hands. Carrot gently clasped those hands. "Marron, look at me. It's your big brother."
"nonononononononono..." Marron wrenched himself from Carrot's grasp, cowering.
"Damnit! Shit!" Carrot faced up the road in time to see Gateau fall. "Double shit!"

"Marron, this is going to hurt me alot more than it's going to hurt you. Your big brother needs you to sleep right now." Carrot drew his sword, got a good grip on the hilt and struck his brother on the head. Marron crumbled. Carrot raised Marron over his shoulders and staggered up the road to the mumbling Gateau.

"Gateau? Yo, Brainless!?!" He managed to get in a good kick without falling over. "Gateau Mocha, I'm talking to you!"

"I CAN'T carry both of you, you musclebound oaf!! GET UP!" Gateau jumped to his feet.
"Carrot?"
"Yeah, Carrot. Now, start running!" Confusion shaded Gateau's face. "NOW! RUN!" Gateau took off, Carrot behind him. "Keep running. One foot, then the other. Right foot! Left foot! Right foot! Left foot!"
